- Message from the President
The Seven & i Group, based on our Corporate Creed*1 of "being a trusted and sincere company" by all stakeholders, including customers, business partners, franchisees, shareholders, local communities, and employees, has achieved sustainable growth by continuously innovating to provide products and services that enrich the daily lives of our customers.
In 2012, the Seven & i Group became a signatory to the UN Global Compact*2. By supporting and working towards the realization of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, we are demonstrating our creative leadership on the international stage. We also identified our Group’s material issues (materiality) that we must address as we strive to resolve social issues. The Seven & i Group will aim for the realization of a sustainable society by linking our materiality to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)*3.
In 2019, we announced the environmental declaration GREEN CHALLENGE 2050, aiming to pass on a prosperous global environment, which is the source of all economic activities, to future generations. In this declaration, we outline our specific targets for 2030 and our vision for 2050. Additionally, we established innovation teams for each of the four themes*4 designated as the paths to achieving these targets and vision. We are working as a group to reduce environmental impact through the introduction of diverse new technologies and the of a circular economy in collaboration with our customers, business partners, and local communities.
Furthermore, to clarify the impact of climate change and natural capital on the finances of our group, we have started analyzing the risks and opportunities of our business based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and considering countermeasures, with results disclosed since 2021. Additionally, we registered as an adopter of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and proceeded with analysis based on the TNFD framework, disclosing the results in September 2024.
In October 2024, we formulated the Seven & i Group Nature Policy to clarify our Group’s stance on proactive action towards nature positive initiatives.
One of our strengths is our innovative culture, and the source of this culture is our human capital. We recognize that respecting human rights is extremely important for diverse human resources to thrive. Furthermore, we regard the human rights of all stakeholders as paramount and essential rights that should be prioritized above all else. With this in mind, we work to ensure compliance with the Seven & i Group Human Rights Policy, which we formulated based on international principles and standards. This Human Rights Policy is applied to all officers and employees. We also ask all business partners for their continuous support of this Policy. Together, we work to ensure respect for human rights and promote human rights due diligence.
We are committed to being a Group that is an essential part of the lives of customers around the world. We will continue to respond rapidly to changes in the needs of customers and society, and work to resolve social issues through our business activities as we strive to improve the social and economic value of the Seven & i Group.
